For Only I Shall Know...
Our lessons in life
Frought with pleasure and strife
Can bring tears to an eye
Of a man filled with pain.
Fallen angel; failed experiment.
Do your disappointments know no boundary?
Pained existence; Self-forsaken.
You deserve nothing but shame.
The thoughts in your head
Hath filled you with dread, of
What must come to pass;
No alternatives to grasp,
Or hope to hold on to
For black and white is black and white
And gray is merely black.
Love the moment for this moment of love
Could cost your own eternity;
Stop feeling feelings and drown emotion
To kill the feel of lonely.
Self-fulfilling prophecy; of course you failed the test.
Self-indulgent philosophy; lay your past to rest.
I've meant it all and still I do
But forgiveness does not compel me;
I've failed myself and through me, you
For I had my chance to go...
I Met Tragedy Band Interview Article
"Three words to sum us up? That's easy; 'bring the party'!" Josh Stogner chuckles as he answers the question with the same simplicity and ease in which he and companion guitarist Craig Sefcik navigate the technical, melodic riffing that has DFW metal lords I Met Tragedy soaking up notice from the traditionally saturated genre. "We basically just said screw all the trend b.s. and the hype and whatever the Hell everyone thinks is scene or elite or any of that; the bottom line is we write what WE like, and we love us some tech riffs, killer harmonies, solos and breakdowns. It's just fun to play!" Josh continues.
Hailing from Arlington, Texas and comprised of members with a rich musical heritage, IMT has begun making moves from the very get go. After recording a 5 song EP entitled 'Love Lost at Midnight' in early 2010, the band has set about building a fan base in the hard-to-engage scene that is Dallas/Fort Worth. Wielding technical riff mastery combined with an exhaustingly high energy stage show, IMT has caught listeners' ears with their trademark catchy choruses and poignant hooks. Guitarist Sefcik and bassist Frank IV provide smooth-as-silk backing vocals for roughneck front-man Rob Hofman, who brings a devastating aural attack via his formidable low and mid-range screams. Rounding out the crew is Daniel Baeza, mastermind behind the ambient auxiliary sounds via his Akai/Roland keyboard set up that nailed the final touch to the bands incredibly tight sound.
"We have some awesome things lined up for 2011, we may have just started as a band but we're kicking our career into high gear; new merch, a new album, music videos, new promos, some huge shows, and crossing our fingers for a label announcement in the VERY near future," exclaims Hofman, eagerly outlining some of the group's plans for a sure to be busy 2011.
With wills of steel and attitudes that can't be subdued, I Met Tragedy is poised to break through the local ceiling and take their appointed seat in the national circuit. And when they do, you can bet that they'll still be 'bringing the party' just as hard as ever before.

Excerpt from an Untitled Story
"Long have I let my words lie dormant and useless in the endless repository that is my mind.
Years; several rotations of the Earth around our powerful, beautiful sun have I staid my hand in conveying the thoughts, emotions and occasional truths that I manifest in my insignificant consciousness, locked away like a terrible secret that deserves to fade into oblivion as recompense for an imaginary crime that only the tainted reality of a human conscience could possibly conceive (and subsequently, rationalize).
My diction and wordplay had set me apart from my peers in ways that would drive others mad with envy, knowing no boundaries except those that I chose to set in order to 'protect' those who were too weak, shallow or incapable of wrapping their minds around the ideology I was able to weave so effortlessly into even the basest of subjects.
Now keep in mind, it wasn't their fault; fate simply gifted me in a way that many others could never fathom, regardless of how much they wished they could or how hard they tried but to no avail. The universe was a harsh mistress; she gave as much as she took away. The argument for 'fairness' and 'duality' was more cutting than a freshly-sharpened razor, with most of the proponents of either side lying in shredded, bloody pieces on either side of the uncompromising blade.
What most would never conceptualize (much less, qualify) was that the gift of communication was illicitly wedded to the curse of systemic madness or dementia, depending on whatever degenerate, covertly licentious reprobate masquerading as an 'educated' member of Psychology (with a multi-thousand dollar diploma that incessantly called upon its owner to justify, regardless of the circumstance) happened to be quoting drivel from tired, elementary theses from similarly unspectacular precursors in an attempt to justify the hundred or so dollars an hour they were charging you for sessions to satisfy that unrelenting devil known as the never-ending student loan.
Because I can only realistically postulate on my own interpretation of existence, I can never truly understand the conceptions and reality that my peers perceive; it's terribly unfortunate, because I find it fascinating yet science has not quite caught up to the sci-fi expectations that we all thought would ensue... albeit certainly not far behind. Neural mapping reveals ways to not only track individual memory, but to preserve it to be 're-downloaded' whenever convenient, such as when your trusty grey matter saw fit to push that (perceptually-speaking) seemingly insignificant first kiss out of your brain in favor of a marketing giant's aggressive campaign to implant some talentless hack's latest 'song' in your head, or when your augmented reality completely overtakes your ability to truly understand or comprehend the world around you. Pretty incredible, right?
And no one realizes that we live in THAT world NOW; that it's possible to genetically grow an organ that could save a life, or that one could transplant an entire FACE to an unfortunate gunshot victim. Instead, we have Brother Media spoon-feeding us useless, inane, censored information about people who have no business being in the spotlight in the first place as a flagrant misdirection to divert our attentions to what truly matters. Is the human psyche really that fragile...? That SIMPLE that it will forgive the most egregious of transgressions on a whim if it might mean that something "interesting" might occur that takes their mind off the self-afflicted woe that plagues their every waking moment...?
It was a turbulent time, indeed; Dickens would have rescinded his now famous first line of A Tale of Two Cities in disgusted astonishment had he been alive to witness the chaos that permeated contemporary society..."

Post Hardcore Band Walk Like Giants Announce EP To Be Produced By Kellen McGregor Of Memphis May Fire
Dallas, Tx - April 27th, 2011 - Dallas, Tx based post hardcore rockers Walk Like Giants report news that Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire (Rise Records) will be recording and producing the band's debut EP beginning in mid-June 2011. The show's goal is to raise money for those affected by the disasters that ravaged Japan earlier this year.
